Help Wanted: VITA Volunteers


It is that time of year when we extend ourselves to give back to our communities by volunteering for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (“VITA”). This is an opportunity to help low income tax individuals with the preparation of their annual federal tax returns. There are several sites available in Dade and Broward counties with various times and dates for volunteers who wish to render assistance.

As we approach the year-end 2009, it is not too early to start focusing on some tax planning tips for 2009 to maximize our personal and business tax benefits.  As a result of the recent legislation some tax breaks are set to expire at the end of 2009, while others will expire in 2010.

 

Starting year-end tax planning before year end, as early as October can yield dividends, as can remaining adaptable to any change in the business environment, or tax legislation, between now and December 31. Here you will find a handful of the many issues to consider.
